Two days colourful Trivandrum trip — Itinerary (Budget trip)

Travel Plans

I booked tickets from Pune to Trivandrum airport via Bangalore(2 hour stop)( 6hour journey). I booked no return tickets, as I wanted to explore till I get tired.

Travel was of night but without hassle. I didn’t book any cab in advance as I want a relaxing trip and just checking the tourist points wasn’t my purpose.

I took auto-rikshaw from airport to hotel and weather was so pleasant and breezy that I travelled only in auto for rest of trip.

Hotel Booking

I looked for many options on makemytrip and booking.com, and finalized two properties one of them was in premium segment and one was a budget trip,

For Bethsaida Hermitage, tariff was around 8000/- + taxes per night with breakfast, while Beach flora inn was costing me only 1500/- + taxes.

Since I didn’t plan any end date for my trip, hence I decided to give it a go for cheaper option where I can say as many days as I want without worrying about costs.

To my surprise, property was nice and very peaceful except the luxury aspect.

Room was Non-ac and at ground floor but clean and comfortable. It was only 10 meter away from sea shore.

There was a restaurant in front of property which offered vegetarian food also and you can look towards sea and sunset while having your coffee

Day 1: Experience at the beach

We didn’t go anywhere on first day and just ate and walked on beach.

Advantage of having a beach property is that, you can leave your slippers in your room and walk bare foot in sad, Sand in lighthouse beach is smooth and silky and feels good in your feet.

there are some water sports like speed boat, although I didn’t try any.

But I went inside water like 50ft and walked on sand and saw most beautiful sunset.

You can shop on the street attached to beach and there are many restaurants which offers sea food, italian, indian etc or just try coconut water (Yellow coconuts)

You can hear roaring sea waves while sitting in your room’s balcony and sky looked clear so we can see stars over the sea’s horizon.

We ended our day with dinner and sitting on sand for 2 hours till 10pm.

Day 2: Visiting Trivandrum

We booked an auto for complete day, which gave us a quotation of 1000/- only for complete day.

Poovar Island

We started our day early for Poovar island as we want the full experience of boating which is only possible in morning. It was 10km away from beach.

There was packages like 2500/- for 1 hour exclusive boat trip, and 3500/- for 1.5 hour, we booked for 1 hour only.

Experience was unbelievable, saw many rare birds, open water, floating restaurants in the way. Photos doesn’t do full justice to the beauty of place.

I can say, you must spend as much time as possible here, eat at lake side restaurants, watch the beauty of place.

Boat also visits sangam point where Neyyar river meets the arabic ocean

After the boating, we left for next destination.

Aazhimala Shiva Temple

It was hardly 15 minutes away by rikshaw, and place wasea just grand, there was a great 58ft Shiva statue which welcomes waves from s and together it was a sight to be seen. There are lovely beaches near to it.

Padmanabhaswamy temple

Last location which we visited before returning to beach was the temple, I don’t have photos to show of it but it was a very grand and old temple and must visit.

Return to beach and ending the day

We returned to beach and then slept for 2 hours, in evening we were back to sea, we enjoyed swimming in sea for 2–3 hours next and then had dinner in a north indian restaurant as we were missing the food.

For the next day, I booked the train tickets to Madurai as I decided to go to Kodaikanal for next 3 days which is in Tamilnadu, which is nearer to Madurai, details of that trip will be shared in future posts.
